Cleaning and Maintenance of Fargo Printers

Fargo cleaning cards are designed to clean the internal components of Fargo card printers. These printers are commonly used for printing ID cards, membership cards, and other types of plastic cards. Over time, the printer’s internal components, such as the print head and rollers, can become contaminated with dust, debris, and other particles. This can cause poor print quality and even damage the printer if left unattended. Fargo cleaning cards are easy to use and help maintain the printer’s performance.

Here are the steps to use a Fargo cleaning card:

  1. Turn off the printer – Before using the cleaning card, make sure the printer is turned off and unplugged from the power source.
  2. Open the printer cover – Open the printer cover to access the printer’s internal components. Refer to the printer manual for specific instructions on how to open the printer cover.
  3. Remove the ribbon – Remove the ribbon from the printer. This will expose the print head, which is the component that needs to be cleaned.
  4. Open the cleaning card package – Open the cleaning card package and remove the cleaning card.
  5. Insert the cleaning card – Insert the cleaning card into the printer’s card feeder or slot, depending on the printer model. Make sure the cleaning card is inserted in the correct direction.
  6. Close the printer cover – Close the printer cover and make sure it is securely closed.
  7. Turn on the printer – Turn on the printer and wait for it to complete its startup process. The cleaning card will be automatically fed through the printer’s internal components.
  8. Discard the cleaning card – Once the cleaning card has been fed through the printer, discard it properly. Do not reuse cleaning cards.
  9. Replace the ribbon – After the cleaning process is complete, replace the ribbon and any other components that were removed.
  10. Test the printer – Print a test card to ensure that the printer is working properly.

It is recommended to use a Fargo cleaning card every time a new ribbon is installed in the printer or every 1000 card prints. This will ensure that the printer’s internal components are clean and functioning properly.
